On October 19 and 20, an investigating group from the State Food and Drug Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture, accompanied by Liu Jianxin, Deputy Mayor of Yichang City, came to Yichang to inspect the safety supervision of edible agricultural products.

　　The group firstly visited Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, and inspected Hubei Caihua Tea Industrial Science Park, Wufeng Xingnong Vegetables Specialized Cooperatives, and Wufeng Shuiyi Village Aquaculture Specialized Cooperatives. Then they went to Wal-Mart in Wanda Plaza and Three Gorges Logistics Park to conduct research.

　　Currently, the “four requirements”, namely, standardized production records, product self-inspection or entrusted inspection and quarantine certificate, package, and logo, have been basically applied to manufacturers which produce nuisance-free, pollution-free and organic agricultural products, the leading enterprises which enjoy agriculture industrialization, and model cooperatives of farmers’ specialized cooperatives. Yichang City actively carries out the construction of management system and the related software will be installed in 42 agricultural products demonstration bases within this year. And Yichang City is the first city of  Hubei Province to test pesticide residues in agricultural products sold in retail market. It is also the first city of Hubei Province to implement urban grid management for the quality and safety of agricultural products. (Reported by Pei Shujing)
