On October 28th, on behalf of Yichang Municipal Government and Tsinghua University respectively, Ma Xuming，Mayor of Yichang and Xue Qikun，Vice President of Tsinghua University，signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement. On the signing ceremony, Xue Qikun and Huang Chuping，Secretary of Yichang Municipal Party Committee were present and made  speeches.

　　In Huang’s speech, he introduced the economic and social development of Yichang and Hubei Province and stressed the importance of the cooperation and talent support for Yichang when facing the important strategic opportunities. He said Yichang would comprehensively strengthen and deepen the cooperation with Tsinghua University. Having listened to the presentation and watched the city’s image promotion, Xue Qigui spoke highly of the amazing megacity dream of Yichang, he said Tsinghua University has been striving to make a major contribution to national and regional economic and social development, meet the demand of national development and service area development and constantly improve its service for economic and social development. He also said Tsinghua University would strive to strengthen and deepen the cooperation by closely connecting with Yichang relevant departments, promoting the cooperation and the implementation of key projects and combining Yichang’s advantages of location, resources, industry and policy with Tsinghua University’s disciplines, talents, and information advantage, thus realizing mutual benefit and common development.

　　The two sides will, in accordance with the principle of "sharing resources, mutual complementarity, mutual benefit, common development", comprehensively cooperate in providing strategy consultancy, strengthen the industry-university-institute cooperation and the introduction and training of talents.

　　Specifically, Tsinghua University will provide decision-making consulting, planning, demonstration and other services on national economy and social planning, city development planning, major industrial development and environmental protection, organize joint scientific research, build scientific research institutions, promote university-industry cooperation, and recommend outstanding scientific achievements to support Yichang to build sub-center city and megacity. While Yichang will create a good development environment and provide priority support for Tsinghua University’s commercialization of research findings, promoting the cooperation of preponderant discipline and industry. The two sides will also enhance social practice base construction in Yichang for Tsinghua University graduates, strengthen the talent introduction and jointly train high-level talents.

　　And in order to ensure the implementation of the agreement, the two sides agreed to set up a work contact system, regularly discuss work plan, study the major issues in the coordination and actively explore innovation cooperation mode, thus expanding areas of cooperation and improving the level of cooperation.
