How many priority growth industry clusters are there in Hubei Province this year? Yesterday the Provincial Economic and Informatization Commission gave the answer of 83. In terms of quantity rankings, Jingzhou, Xiangyang and Yichang rank top three, followed by Wuhan, the competition is quite intense between them.
According to the latest statistics of Hubei Priority Growth Industry Clusters for 2013, the construction of provincial sub-center cities of Xiangyang and Yichang is in full swing, despite the imbalance distribution in the whole province.
Among the 17 cities(autonomous prefectures), Jingzhou tops the list for 10 clusters, Xiangyang follows in the second for 9 clusters, Yichang ranks the third for 8 clusters, Wuhan, Huanggang and Xianning are parallelling fourth for 7 clusters, Enshi, E’zhou and Suizhou own 3 clusters, Xiantao, Qianjiang, Tianmen possess 2 and Shennongjia 1.
Recent emergent industry clusters are characterized by transformation and upgrading. The East Lake High-Tech Development Zone in Wuhan has two clusters, the biological medicine industry cluster and optical communication industry cluster, outnumbers other Zones, as well as TECH-A equipment manufacturing industry cluster in Jiangxia District, reveals the apparent characters of Wuhan emergent industry clusters in transformation and upgrading.
Other cities also have improved their traditional competitive industries, like Xiangyang, it develops the competitive industries such as bearing and auto parts, at the mean time, it extends to the industrial clusters of energy saving control in motor and automotive friction sealing materials.
From the perspective of the whole province, redundant constructions of industry clusters exist in different areas. For instance, Laohekou and Yicheng of Xiangyang are developing food processing at the same time, while Wuhan, Huangshi, Jingzhou, Xiaogan, Huanggang and Xianning all have set up garment industry clusters; the similar phenomenon also appears in the auto parts industry. It comes to a conclusion that when we develop priority growth industry clusters, we should bear in mind that the whole province is a unit; we should complete the industrial chain, complement each other, and then improve the ability of deal with market risk jointly.
