On November 11th, Huang Chuping, Municipal Party Secretary of Yichang attended the meeting of special topic for democratic life within the Communist Party Committee by the Party Committee of CTGU on CTGU campus. During the meeting, Huang Chuping shared his opinions and pointed out problems about formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance. He requested that practical educational activities should be promoted in depth. He said that efforts should be made to develop CTGU into an excellent university with distinct characteristics, quality teaching and great influence in China,  thus to make contribution to building Yichang into a megacity.

　　Huang paid much attention to practical educational activities of CTGU and inspected CTGU for multiple times. He suggested developing practical educational activities and required that on the basis of the Central and Provincial Party Committee\'s deployment, achievements should be made in practical educational activities by greater determination, more efficient measures, better working style and higher standard, setting a good example of practical educational activities in Hubei Province, which can also lay the foundation of upcoming practical educational activities in Yichang.

　　During the meeting, Li Jianlin, Scretary of  Party Committee of CTGU, on behalf of the Party Committee, made a self-assessment, so did other members of the Party Committee, which focused on the main points and pointed out the problems about formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance, integrating with thoughts and their duties. For the problems, they analyzed causes and proposed solutions.

　　Huang gave the comments and praised the previous practical educational activities and the meeting of CTGU, saying that this democratic meeting was well-prepared, problems were found and practical solutions proposed. He also said that the meeting would serve as inspiration to promote harmony and work of CTGU.  

　　Huang indicated that democratic meeting is just a beginning. The purpose of finding out problems is to solve them. We should deal with concrete matters relating to work and closely combine “Elite University Dream” with “China Dream”, “Hubei Dream” and “Megacity Dream of Yichang”, setting an example of firm politics stand, solidarity and cooperation, innovation and diligence.

　　Huang also emphasized that according to the idea of “Elite University Dream”, efforts should be made to promote the development of CTGU into a national-wide first-class comprehensive university. Firstly, to build an elite university with distinct characteristics, the preponderant  disciplines as well as emerging discipline should be fully used to form our own characteristics by making use of brand advantage of “Three Gorges” and resource superiority of the Three Gorges Area. Secondly, to build a powerful university, breakthroughs should be made in discipline construction, teaching staff, talent development, educational reform, scientific research innovation and university cultural construction and get promotions in scale, quality, structure and benefits of university. Thirdly, to build vigorous university, talents should be developed by innovation in science, knowledge, technology to promote economic and social development.

　　Huang suggested that CTGU should be actively involved in the construction of “Five Hubei” (Prosperous Hubei, Innovative Hubei, Law-governed Hubei, Civilized Hubei and Happy Hubei) and “Megacity Dream of Yichang”, contributing to scientific and great-leap-forward development of Yichang and Hubei. It is very important to firmly establish a concept that development of university should be integrated with local development. CTGU may combine its talent development with the development of Yichang, providing more excellent talents to Yichang and supporting the local development with technology and talents.

　　Liu Tianxi, Member of Provincial NPC Standing Committee, gave the comments and put forward some suggestions on practical educational activities, saying that this meeting is very good with a clear theme, strong democratic atmosphere. Through it, we found out some problems and proposed solutions. We should promote practical educational activities and facilitate other works by practical educational activities.
