Through the application, citizens could query the real-time location, arrival and transfers of all the 71 bus routes through mobile phones.
It is learned that this urban wireless public transport mobile application system introduced by Yichang Public Transport Group Ltd is an extension of intelligent bus service as well as an important part of “Smart City” construction in Yichang. It will help people choose the best route and arrange the travel time.
A Guide For Convenient Transport
As introduced by He Zhengyu, Director of Electronic Information Center, Yichang Public Transport Group Ltd, that the application is 3M of size and it only needs a mobile phone with access to the Internet and GPS signal. The corresponding application can be downloaded and installed to Android’s Client and Apple’s Client by scanning the two-dimensions code or inputting the website (http:www.ycbus.com\\appdown\\down.html). It is like a portable real-time electronic bus board.
Before taking the bus, one can input the bus route and the stop to see how far away the bus is and to estimate the arrival time of the bus. Besides, one can acquire more options of routes by the “Station Query” of application.
It is learned that this application will integrate the bus routes with banks, restaurants, hospitals, shopping malls, entertainment and accommodation nearby bus stops.
He also introduced that the application has three highlighted functions. The first is the tracking query: when a bus route is tagged, the application shows the nearest bus of route to your stop and updates the distance accordingly. The second is alarming: when the target bus is within one to and five stops, the application will alarm the coming of the bus. The third is the bus plate number tracking: when someone leaves something on the bus, the application can easily track and find the bus by inputting the bus plate number.
5 Modules for Easy Query of Bus Information
At about 10 of that day, the reporter downloaded “the application” to an Apple phone by scanning the two-dimension code, then clicked the application and rapidly logged in to choose “Yichang City” in “City Switch”.
At this time, five modules could be seen: “Bus Route Query”, “Bus Stop Query”, “Stop to Stop Query” and “Plate Number Query”.
The reporter chose “Bus Stop Query” by pressing the button for a while and all relative information of the stop were loaded in a second, showing 15 relative bus routes including No.6, No.9, No.11, No.17, No.27, No.28, No.101 and No.103.
The reporter chose a No.6 bus and tested the 3 highlighted functions of the application and the results were all satisfactory.

It is learned that on the first day 3,665 people used the application. The reporter interviewed some people using the application randomly yesterday.
When Miss. Zhou, who commutes to and from work by bus, learned that she could use her mobile phone to query bus information, she said cheerily, “I don’t need to wait for a bus blindly any more.” In fact, she used to face a situation that she waited for a bus for a long time and when she just walked away from the bus stop, it came.
