From November 20th to 23rd, the 2013 EU-China Exhibition on Urban Development was first held at the Beijing Exhibition Center. Yichang made a wonderful debut at the "Hall of Livable Cities", representing Hubei Province together with Wuhan and Xiangyang.
On the morning of November 20th, Wang Xiaodong, member of CPC Standing Committee of Hubei province and Executive Vice Governor visited the Yichang booth and commented that "Yichang has shown not only its own charm of urban development, but also the future urban development of Hubei Province."
The exhibition was co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission of China and the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission. It was the first exhibition held under the framework of "the Joint Declaration on EU-China Partnership on Urbanization". The theme of the Exhibition is “Increasing Exchanges to Expand Cooperation for Mutual Benefit, and Encourage Innovation with Forward-looking Perspective for Sustainable Development”. 158 city governments and businesses took part in the exhibition with 1 comprehensive hall and 9 halls of themes, covering an area of over 19,000 square meters.
The Yichang booth, with combination of dynamic and static sceneries, highlights the scenery of the Three Gorges with the Yangtze River across the city and mountains surrounding it. The city features the integration of the nature, history, culture and the beauty of modern civilization, depicting a grand blueprint for a "big, powerful, and beautiful" modernized mega-city.
The Yichang booth consists of five parts, namely the Profile, living, tourism, business and dream of Yichang. It comprehensively introduces the achievements of national economy, social development, cultural construction and urban management in Yichang to Chinese and foreign customers with videos, images, text and other forms shown on a big LED screen. During the exhibition, it attracted many guests for visiting the exhibition and information. Mao Chuanqiang, Member of Yichang Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor attended the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition.
