On December 1st, it’s informed that the Price Control Administration has rectified the charge items, charge standards and service contents of the funeral service to strengthen the management and standardize the behavior of the funeral service charge. According to the relevant documentations and the practical situation of Yichang, 9 new charges were added, 4 items were merged, 13 items were canceled, 14 items were locked down, and all of these changes lead to a 20% down of charging standard in all. The Pricing Control Administration files made further clarification on the basis of standard cleaning of the funeral service charge.
According to regulations, the prices of four basic service items of picking up, storing remains , cremation and bone ashes storage are fixed and managed by government; the prices of 15 funeral services, such as cosmetic make-up of normal remains, anticorrosion, facility rental etc. and funeral supplies are instructed under the management of government, but the in actual practice the real charging fees can be more flexible on the benchmark price with 10% exceeding at the maximum and no limitation at the minimum. The charges of special treatment of the remains of funeral services and other special items are required to implement market adjustment and report to Yichang Municipal Price Bureau.
In the light of the documentation, funeral service charges should be clearly marked, open and transparent. The charges of government guidance and market adjustment management should be adopted on a voluntary basis by mourning families, forced execution is banned. The charge items which were canceled and merged shall not be restored in any reason or charged in any other form. Meanwhile, We will continue to crystallize the policy regarding the urban and rural residents who live on minimum living allowances, households enjoying the five guarantees (food, clothing, medical care, housing and burial expenses) in rural areas, three-no people (no identity, no career, no home) in urban areas and key special-care recipients, and provide them with free delivery, refrigeration, cremation and disinfection for the remains.(Reporter Pei Shujing, correspondent Han Weiwei).
