2013-12-24 15:23:22

According to the on-spot-meeting of “Sunshine Home” construction for the left-behind children in rural areas in Hubei Province held on July 4th, Yichang "Sunshine Home" care model will be promoted in the whole province, where 2000 "Sunshine Homes" will be built in this year.

In order to help left-behind children in rural area grow healthily, the Yuanan County in Yichang City took the first step to explore and establish a "2 + X" care model for left-behind children in rural care. Relying on Party Members Service Center, “Famers Library” and other public facilities, they have established village-level “Sunshine Homes” for left-behind children in rural areas, where young cadres and volunteers, the main care participants, carry out schoolwork tutoring, interest cultivation, quality development, psychological consultation, safety and self-care trainings etc., thus effectively solving the problems about lacking of care, education and management of left-behind children. On June 30th, this case was rewarded as “the Best Case Award of National Grass-roots Party Construction and Innovation”.

So far, Yichang municipality has raised one million RMB yuan, built 122 "Sunshine Homes" in rural areas, taken care of more than 28,000 left-behind children. Furthermore, the city plans to build "Sunshine Home" in an all-round way in 1355 administrative villages within one or two years.

Zhang Shu, Deputy Secretary of Youth League Committee of Hubei Province, spoke highly of the "Sunshine home" care model. He said that Yichang "Sunshine Home" care model was worth being promoted in Hubei Province because it brought forth new ideas in the carrier of Grass-root Party Construction, solved the problems of left-behind children in rural area as lacking of care and of management, and broaden the channels for the Communist Youth League to serve teenagers for their healthy growth.
