On January 2, Wu Jianping, owner of a family farm from Changlinggang Village, Yidu County-level City, said to the reporter that 850 pigs have been bred and 800 tons of citrus have been produced at his family farm in 2013. Comparing with the year 2012, the gross income has increased 12% in 2013 with an amount of 1.8 million RMB.
What Wu did is, based on the construction of small-scale biogas project, to develop an energy utilization pattern of pig - biogas - fruit in an all-around way. He contracted a total of 166,666.7 square meters citrus field and built four piggeries. Wu also developed 400 cubic meters biogas digesters, which provides over 20 farmers with free gas and takes full advantage of biogas slurry and residues to fertilize the citrus by means of micro-irrigation, and sprinkler irrigation facilities.
It is learned that over the registered family farms have reached 1,100 in Yichang in 2013. In the 287 ecological model villages, 843 small-scale biogas projects have been constructed, which makes it possible for 6,130 farmers to use pipeline gas. The villages which breed pigs produce biogas, biogas supplies farmers, and biogas slurry and residues are used in the farmland, thus the circulation has been achieved. At present, the “green fruits” produced with biogas manures as fertilizer in Wufeng County, Changyang County, Zigui County and Xingshan County etc. are in short supply. Through the construction of ecological homestead, the consumption ratio of Yichang rural high-quality energy has reached to 26% and 230 million RMB annual fuel costs have been saved.
