On January 8th, a working conference was held in Yichang on Greening, Beautifying and Readjustment of Yichang City. Ma Xuming, deputy secretary of Municipal Party Committee and the mayor of Yichang City, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote address, and Wang Xingyu, deputy secretary of Municipal Party Committee, presided over the meeting. Other municipal officials such as Mao Zhuanqiang, Wang Guobin deployed the city\'s greening and beautifying action and rearrangement work in 2014.

　　Since last year, Yichang has regarded the beautifying action as an important part of building megacity and of the major project which benefits the mass. The total investment reached more than 2 billion yuan and 227 key projects have been started, which resulted in an afforestation of 250,000 mu, around 9.06 million trees compulsorily planted, and a cumulative planted trees of 310,000 in the city. This year, according to the general requirements of “benefit the mass and upgrading” project, Yichang will consolidate and expand the Greening and Beautifying Action and Rearrangement achievement. The city will continue to implement the Landscaping Project, complete more than 200,000 mu of afforestation, plant over 9 million trees, and plant more than 300,000 trees in urban area. Urban Beautification Projects will continue to be implemented for 248 existing buildings within the scope of “seven lines and two points”. The “Night-landscape lighting project” will be carried out for 70 important nodes in the “one ring road, three places and seven nodes” range.

　　Ma Xuming fully affirmed the achievements of the past year at the meeting. He pointed out that City’s Greening and Beautifying Actions and Readjustment Planning is one of the “five livelihood projects” in Yichang City. He said that we should follow the spirit of the Central Urbanization Working Conference to further promote the city\'s readjustment and beautifying action, to highlight the charm of green mountains, clean water, animated green and the grandness of Yichang city, and to fully reveal the beauty of natural ecology, of history and culture and of modern civilization, creating an amazing beautiful image of the city.

　　Ma Xuming claimed that the municipal must grasp the key points, and make an overall arrangement to create a “clean, green, bright, beautiful, quiet and clear” living environment in the process, and then enhance the comprehensive quality and competitiveness of the city. With vital landscapes, road greening projects, 125 key greening programs, organizations and institutions greening, village greening, ecological restoration as the cores, efforts must be made to promote afforestation projects and highlight the three centers of existing buildings’ comprehensive renovation, barricade to remediation, shop renovation to strongly promote the beautified projects. The focus should be on night-landscape lighting construction in the range of “one ring road, three places and seven nodes”, thus making efforts to promote the whole lighting project.

　　Ma Xuming emphasized that the City’s Greening, Beautifying and Readjustment was not only concerned with the livelihood project which benefited the mass and upgrading, but also boosted the Developing Project. He stressed that the city must strengthen municipal leadership to promote greening project at a high level, and ensure the new achievements of the city\'s greening and beautifying actions and readjustment. In accordance with the requirement of "Four Firsts", the municipal must make new contributions to accelerate the construction of “big, strong, excellent and beautiful” modern megacity by scientific planning, carful construction, strengthened organizing, effective implementation, wide mobilization, intensified supervision, and long-term management.

　　Wang Xingyu claimed that all organs of different regions and departments should focus on the city’s greening, beautifying and readjustment project in 2014 with clearly understood mission, strengthened measures, careful planning, and rapidly aroused enthusiasm to start the job substantially at an earlier stage and aim at tangible effect.
