A Pilot Project Initiated by UNICEF Lands in Yichang

  On January 10, according to the news from Municipal Women\'s Federation of Yichang City, the project--Early Childhood Development Supported by Family and Community, which is launched jointly by UNICEF (United Nations Children\'s Fund) and the National Women\'s Federation, was officially started in Yichang City. As one of China’s first patch of 40 pilot areas, Yichang City will implement the project mainly in poorer rural areas and communities that have a relatively large number of left-behind children.

  Yichang City will build 10 parenting information kiosks successively in Wufeng County and urban area of Yichang City, providing free comprehensive and detailed information service on parenting to residents in rural areas and communities via inquiry terminals. Municipal Women\'s Federation of Yichang City will rely on platforms such as Women and Children’s Home to establish early childhood parenting support center in communities and rural areas, in which early comprehensive development service that contain day-caring, developing and protecting can be carried out, exploring mainly daycare service mode and child rearing with parents’ participation and guidance mode. Meanwhile, personnel concerned to the project will be given systematic trainings, and guiding service manual will be drew up and printed out. Moreover, by learning from pilot areas, multidimensional intervening measures and experience that are supported by communities and families will be promoted.
