It was learned from China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd on Jan. 17 that after the completed enlargement and reconstruction of the first assembling unit of 2014, the installed capacity of No. 6 power unit has increased from 125,000 kw to 150,000 kw, and it has been connected to the grid for operation.

　　The No.6 power unit was put into operation in Feb. 1983 and the capacity enlargement and reconstruction work was launched on Sept. 27, 2013. The major objective of the project was to increase installed capacity by reducing the ratio of regime to hub of the runner and impeller reshaping of the water turbine. After the project, the installed capacity increased from 125,000 kw to 150,000 kw.

　　The 72-hour grid-connected trial operation of No. 6 power unit was performed on Jan. 10, 2014. Before that, a three-day test of the power unit has been carried out, and the test performed well. During the trial operation stage, the engineers of China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd used on-line monitoring and other technologies to enhance the monitoring on core data such as three bearing vibration, swing and temperature. The data showed that the unit runs well, and all indicators met the standard of “Qualified Unit”. On the evening of Jan. 15, the No.6 power units ended its capacity enlargement and reconstruction procedure, and was connected to the grid and put into operation.

　　A total of 19 power units of Gezhouba Hydropower Station will be involved in this round of capacity enlargement and reconstruction, which will last till 2020 with an increased capacity of 475,000 kw. (Reporters: Liang Jianqiang, Li Siyuan)
