On January 21, the Three Gorges Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Center and the Three Gorges Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center were officially established. Liu Jianxin, Deputy Mayor of Yichang City, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

　　According to Yu Xuejun, Chairman of the Three Gorges Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Center, at the beginning, there will be about 70 professional testing personnel, including 2 professors, 14 associate professors and 31 research associates. With the area of 7,000 square meters, the new center possesses 600 suits equipment for inspection and testing, such as high performance liquid chromatograph, atomic absorption spectroscopy and amino acid analyzer, which will allow it to have the detective ability of more than 2,000 parameters in field of food, drug, feed, chemical industry, light industry, mechanical and electrical and construction in a year. The west of Hubei Province will be its business area.

　　Liu required that the Quality Supervision, Industry and Commerce, Food Bureau and other related departments should stand in overall height and proceed from creating the best national food security city to fully understand the significance of the establishment of the center, to define the division of responsibilities, to form a joint effort, and to ensure that agency consolidation, personnel placement, and transfer of assets on time.(Reporter Wang Su Zhi, correspondent Fu Jinglong)
