2014-03-03 07:18:41

On February 21st, Wang Hongqiang, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Yichang Municipal People’s Congress, came to the Municipal City Planning Bureau in accompany with officials from Yichang Municipal Commission of City Administration and Environment to lead customized research on conservation of public green spaces, mountains and waters in central area.

It’s learned that based on the current situation of development in Yichang as well as the public\'s opinions, the Municipal City Planning Bureau listed the fourth batch of green spaces and the first batch of mountains and waters which will be under permanent protection. At the same time, it’s planning to bring 8 public green spaces, 8 mountains and 2 water areas, which make 22.8 sq. km in total, into protection. And the city government will submit the list to the Standing Committee of Yichang Municipal People’s Congress as soon as possible.

Wang points out that Yichang is featured with its mountains, rivers, ecological gardens and parks. And to build a “big, strong, excellent and beautiful” modern megacity demands extra attention to ecological environment of the city which pains for the moment and gains for the millennia. Furthermore, sectors related to city panning should further ask for opinions from all around and improve relevant plans, further specify the scale of the areas and get prepared according to related legal procedures to put it in practice.
