Recently, the reporter learned from technology training activities of Yichang "beautiful countryside" construction that in 2014 Yichang will combine "beautiful countryside" construction and a new round of "officials entering villages to benefit the villagers" activities, ensuring 90% villages complete environmental remediation and striving for two or more provincial-level livable villages in each district and at least one characteristic village in each town.

　　It is reported that by the end of 2015, more than 100 livable villages and 164 characteristic villages will have been built in Yichang. Through 5-year construction, Yichang will accomplish environmental remediation of all the villages and make more than 1/3 villages become livable villages or characteristics villages.

　　It is introduced that "livable village" demonstration projects, taking "sufficient facilities, comfortable living, clean environment, fine ecology, scientific management and public satisfaction" as the goal, aim at improving infrastructure and public service facilities in rural areas, guiding the construction of rural housing to the central village and new communities, improving living conditions and surroundings in rural areas, enhancing earthquake resistance and disaster prevention capability of rural housing and living standards of peasants so as to realize the function of rural infrastructure,  serve the community and achieve urbanization.
