Yichang is trying to build itself into a regional logistics node city in the upper and middle reaches of Yangtze River. The city has got 21 provincial key logistics enterprises and 24 national A-level logistics enterprises by 2013. In 2013, it achieved a rotation volume of freight transport of 36.7 billion tons-kilometers by land and water, a year-on-year increase of 16%; a cargo throughput of port of 61.69 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 22%. The express volume reached 41.32 million pieces, a year-on-year increase by 65%; the total income of logistics industry reached 71.7 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase by 19.5%.

It focuses on fostering the main body at home and strengthen information construction. Relying on roll-on-roll-off transport from Yichang to Chongqing, Yichang will push drop and pull transport pilots by land and water, promote "base + Internet + platform" logistics development model and explore new logistics transport patterns. Meanwhile, it will build up logistics enterprise informatization demonstration projects, guide and support Yichang Port Group\'s water-land transshipment and container transportation, China Postal EMS Logistics Company\'s network construction and express service, less-than-carload special line of Laozhou Logistics, hazardous chemicals transport of Hongtai Logistics and emergency logistics of Fortune Logistics by taking Aiben Logistics Information Exchange, The Three Gorges Logistics Park Information Center, Yihua Ansa Logistics Information Platform and so on as key parts.

Its industrial agglomeration effect improves continuously. Some industry cluster districts have been established in Xiaoting District and Wujiagang District; GAC GROUP and ZTE has built a 100-billion auto industry together; the Yichang CGS Polysilicon  Screen Project and the Photoelectric Glass Project have settled down in Dongshan Industrial Park and Xiaoting Industrial Park respectively; the thinnest glass at home has been made in Yichang.

A more perfect logistics network is formed. COSCO LOGISTICS and Shanghai Shide Commercial Logistics Ltd. set up in Yichang. Some local backbone logistics enterprises like The Three Gorges Logistics Park, Yichang Port Group and Aiben Logistics Park have formed logistics service network connecting Wuhan and Chongqing as well as linking Sichuan and Hubei.

For the past two years, 143 modern logistics industry projects have been under construction, with a total investment of 18.7 billion RMB in Yichang. In addition, the city owns a variety of 62 key logistics projects. (Reporter Long Yizhou, Correspondent Yang Yunquan)
