On February 28, a on-site meeting on accelerating urban and rural household waste disposal integration was held in Yuan’an, Yichang.

　　Delegates observed the collection and disposal process of rural household waste at the site of Waste Transfer Station at Yangping Town, Yuan’an County, Shuanglu Community at Yangping Town, Hongjia Village at Jiuxian Town. They gained a deeper insight of household waste disposal integration system established in Yuan’an.

　　It was proposed at the meeting to integrate the urban and rural household waste disposal by means of urban-driving-rural and urban-rural interaction policy. The aim is to improve rural sanitation management and rural environment as well as to solve the problem such as “secondary pollution” during the process of waste disposal; to improve and perfect rural sanitation systems, facilities and equipment, operation and management mechanisms; to plan, build, manage and develop urban and rural household waste disposal simultaneously; to make urban and rural household waste disposal harmless, recyclable and simplified.

　　Specific requirements on the task of the next phase were also put forward at the meeting. Based on the actual condition, every county and district should accelerate the construction and support in building up a pilot village in each county and district.
