It is learned from the Conference on the Development and Reform of Yichang City held recently that the municipal development and reform system has applied successfully from superior authorities for more than 6 billion yuan of all kinds of project funds in 2013. Among them, 2.37 billion yuan is the free fund of central budget, ranking the first place in Hubei Province. In addition, as one of the Pilot Cities for Clustering Development of National Regional Strategic Emerging Industry, China’s first Model Cities for Creating New Energy, National E-commerce Model Cities and National Secondary Logistics Park Layout Cities, Yichang has an important platform that promotes its rise into a megacity.

　　It is said that a number of major projects and development ideas were officially included into national and provincial planning. At present, Yichang City was incorporated in the adjustment and reconstruction planning of the old industrial bases in China, and Songyi Mine in Yidu is listed as one of the first five independent industrial and mining areas in China that will be removed and reconstructed. The project of constructing “Three Gorges Comprehensive Transportation System” that was proposed by Yichang Development and Reform Commission is brought into planning of National Development and Reform Commission and Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission. Xiangxi Yangtze River Bridge Project, Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge Project, Honghuatao Yangtze River Bridge Project, Zhijiang Bailizhou Yangtze River Bridge Project and “5 bridges and 1 tunnel” project of Yichang Light Rail Line 3 river tunnel have passed the preliminary assessment of National Development and Reform Commission.
