On March 13th, it was learned from the meeting on municipal environmental protection that Yichang Municipal Implementation Plan for Atmospheric Pollution Prevention and Control will be announced within this year. The plan addresses that a systematic platform for supervision and administration of motor vehicle exhaust pollution will be built for the city; urban fugitive dust will be comprehensively prevented and controlled; the prevention and control of catering industry lampblack pollution will be enhanced; the administration of urban coal control areas will be strengthened; the setting-up of supervisory and administrative system on ambient air quality will be reinforced; and the construction of heavy pollution weather monitoring and warning system of the city will be advanced. Besides, the setting-up of a haze monitoring station will be pushed on in order to analyze the haze resources of the city.

　   It has been required at the meeting that the work of prevention and control on soil pollution should be started; the demonstrative work of comprehensive control on rural environment should be pushed forward in all aspects; the creation and setting-up of ecological counties (cities and districts) should be carried on; policies on livestock breeding admittance should be drafted; no-livestock-areas and limited-livestock-areas should be designated to prevent and control livestock breeding pollution. The emission reduction of key fields including livestock breeding, urban sewage disposal, motor vehicle industry, thermal power industry and cement industry should be advanced. Areas under Yichang municipal jurisdiction should keep an eye on the goal of emission reduction, detail measures, implement the plan and ensure to complete the task of emission reduction. The inspection on environmental safety should be carried on; the investigation on potential environmental safety hazard, including key sources of pollution, chemical enterprises along rivers and hazardous chemicals be intensified; the utilization of measures for supervising the handling, media exposure and accountability be specified and strengthened; and the acts on violation of environmental laws be cracked down.
