Up to March 18, 48,458 vehicles in Yichang City have applied for the green tag. Among them, 46,310 are green tags and 2148 are Yellow ones, and 36,143 were from the main urban areas and 12315 were from counties (including Yiling District).

　　In order to strengthen the environmental supervision of the exhaust pollutions of the motor vehicles, “Yichang Vehicle Exhaust Pollution Control Measures” has been implied in Yichang City since January 15. And the implementation of the environmental management inspection marks will also be implied according to the exhaust pollution levels of different categories of motor vehicles. Since October 1, motor vehicles without or with overdue tags shall not be permitted to drive on the road. Yichang Environmental Protection Bureau, Yichang Public Security Bureau and Yichang Transportation Bureau jointly issued “The Announcement on the Management of Implementation of Environmentally Friendly Motor Vehicle Inspection Marks”; and according to this announcement, since January 15, the newly bought motor vehicles within the city and motor vehicles transferred from other places to the city should go to the security department to deal with the application (renewal) of the clean vehicle logo.

　　According to Zhang Wei, an officer of the Motor Vehicle Exhaust Pollution Administration Office of Yichang Environmental Protection Bureau, at present, there are nearly 870,000 various types of motor vehicles (including motorcycles) in Yichang City, while the rate of the vehicles which have applied for the environmental tags is less than 10%. It will be very difficult to complete the application targets before September 30 according to “Yichang Vehicle Exhaust Pollution Control Measures”. The head of the Environmental Protection Commission Office said that, they will accelerate the eliminations of the Yellow Label Cars and the processes of the traffic control and strengthen the investigation and the punishment to the vehicles with black smoke to promote the air pollution prevention and improve air quality. 　　How to apply for an environmental tag?

　　At the application for such a tag, the original and the copy of the motor vehicle license and vehicle ownership documents (users of work units need to bring the copy of certificate of code of legal representative) should be present to the Administrative Service Center and Yichang Environmental Protection Bureau within the jurisdiction to get and fill in the “Registration Form for Issuance of the Clean Vehicle Logo in Hubei Province”. The issuance, renewal and replacement of the clean vehicle logo are all free.
