Direct Flight to Taiwan Available from May 10th
2014-04-18 17:07:28

On April 8th, it was learnt from the tourism authority that the chartered tourism airplane will officially open on May 10th, from Yichang directly to Taiwan and there will be no need to change a flight in Wuhan for Yichang locals to fly to Taiwan anymore.

Since China International Travel Service Limited (Yichang) became the first authorized travel agency to start Taiwan tourism business on Feb.16th, 2009, more and more Yichang people enjoyed their first Taiwan tour. The CITS’s data suggests that, so far, about 50,000 people went to Taiwan through this travel agency, and that Taiwan tour has become a favorable choice in Yichang tourism market. Up to now, there are two more travel agencies which are qualified to lead group tour to Taiwan. To activate the interchange of tourist economy between Yichang and Taiwan, each related sector has made great effort and finally the chartered tourism airplane will make its first direct flight from Yichang to Taiwan on May 10th. “In the past, Yichang citizens had to fly to Taiwan with a connection at Wuhan. But when the direct flight to Taizhong, which is the third biggest city in Taiwan, opens, the whole journey will take only three hours and no transition is needed anymore.” It’s learnt yesterday from CITS (Yichang) that a few tourist lines to travel along Taiwan coastlines are arranged, ranging from 4,000 RMB to 6,000 RMB, and that all the seats of the first flight on May 10th have already been booked.

According to CITS (Yichang), the chartered airplane, Airbus A320 with 150 seats, belongs to Trans-Asia Airways. According to the preliminary plan, there will be a flight on each Saturday in May and June after the first direct flight on May 10th. From July to October, there will be two flights each week, on every Tuesday and Saturday. Then from November to May, 2015, there will be one flight on each Saturday. From Yichang to Taiwan, the flight takes off at 18:40 and arrives at Taizhong at 21:40; and from Taizhong back to Yichang, it takes off at 14:40 and arrives at Yichang at 17:40.  (Reporter: Wang Ying)
