CTGU & HFG Set Up Joint Biotech Institute

On April 29, China Three Gorges University (CTGU)•Haitong Joint Food Biotech Institute is founded in Yichang. Zhang Wenxue, Deputy Mayor of Yichang City, attends the launching ceremony. He Weijun, President of CTGU, and Chen Longhai, Chairman of HFG (Haitong Food Group), jointly inaugurate the institute. 

Haitong Food Group, a national leading enterprise of agriculture industrialization, is mainly engaged in fruit and vegetable processing. It is founded in Anfusi Industrial Park in Zhijiang in 2010 and it achieves a tax payment of 25.5 million yuan in 2013.

Zhang Wenxue points out that both the municipal committee and government are paying much attention on enterprise research & development and on talent introduction. They strongly encourage cooperation between enterprises and research institutes or colleges. CTGU posses dominant advantages in terms of Yichang economical & social development research around three gorges region. It also promotes industry transformation and upgrading in Yichang. The establishment of joint institute is a high platform of innovation and development for both CTGU and HFG. We expect a further commercialization of research findings, which helps to build Yichang into a megacity.       

He Weijun indicates that, the joint institute supplies new resources for subject development of both biology and bromatology. Seizing this opportunity, College of Biology and Pharmacy is expected to make up practical cooperation programs of integrating teaching research and enterprise demand; to promote industry-university-research cooperation as well as collaborative innovation; and to play a bigger role in serving for bioengineering and pharmaceutical industry development in Yichang.
