On the morning of April 28th, Yichang Municipal Intermediate People\'s Court began the trial at Dangyang Municipal People\'s Court and announced, according to the laws, the first trial decision to the 14 drug dealers (including Hu, Yan, Xu etc.) in the case. This was the first major drug-trafficking case under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Public Security of PRC detected by Yichang Ministry of Public Security in 2012 (Reported on June 15, 2012). Among drug dealer, Hu, Yan and Xu were sentenced to death penalty, Deng and Yan were sentenced a suspended death penalty, Zou and Ke were sentenced to life in prison, and seven of them (such as Li, Wang etc.) were sentenced to 4 — 15 years in prison.

In September, 2010 when the police of Dangyang City (the county-level city of Yichang City) first investigated the drug-related gang led by Yuan, they found out that a huge number of drugs coming from the “drug boss Yan”, a local Dangyang citizen. The police of Dangyang conveyed the information immediately to the Security Bureau of Yichang City. It is ascertained that the “drug boss Yan” has engaged in narco-trafficking via the route of Yunnan Province - Yichang City - Dangyang City since 2005.

On April 26th of 2011, The Public Security Bureau of Yichang City designated the Dangyang Public Security Bureau to investigate this case. On June 24th of the same year, this case was approved by the Ministry of Public Security as a target case. After that, specialized personals in Dangyang police were quickly organized to tackle the case. After overcoming untold difficulties in two years, traveling more than 100,000 km---6 times to Yuanan and 5 times to Guangdong Province, they finally cracked the case and arrested all people involved.

According to the court investigation, in order to reap fabulous profits by drug trafficking, this drug gang, composed with jobless Hu in Yunnan, unemployed Yan, Xu in Dangyang city and Deng, Yan etc. in Yichang, has carried out 27 cases of drug trafficking, dealt 45kg drugs continuously from 2005 to September 2011. Meanwhile, this criminal gang was also charged with the crime of manufacturing-drugs, opening casino, extortion and illegally carrying guns and ammunition.
