On May 4, the reporter learned from the Municipal Bureau of Agricultural Economics that, until the beginning of this year, Yichang has already had 928 registered family farms. The emergence of family farms has greatly enriched our choices for vegetables and fruits.
The family farm refers to the new agricultural businesses which take farm households as the business units, the farm members as the main labor to be engaged in the large-scale, intensive, and commercialized agricultural business, and agricultural income as the main source of the family income. The prescribed criteria of the family farms in Yichang: the land has been used for the contract, lease or transfer for not less than 5 years. 100 acres or more for the plantation of cotton and oil; 30 acres for the plantation of fruit, vegetables, tea, flowers, nursery stock and other crops; more than 50 acres for aquaculture; in terms of livestock farming more than 300 pigs or sheep for sale every year, more than 5000 poultries for sale (or to be sold) every year and more than 10 million annual income for the special planting (breeding ) industry.
