Report on BRT Project Progress From Headquarters

  On the morning of May 9th, headquarters of BRT project on Yichang Dongshan Avenue convoked construction progress briefing to inform the current progress of the project, and answer some hot issues of public concern.

  Headquarters report that the whole BRT project is divided into five tenders: the first tender is from Jiangjunyan to Xiling 2nd Avenue (6.1km); the second tender is from Xiling 2nd Avenue to Gangyao Road (3.84km); the third tender is from Gangyao Road to Yichang East Railway Station (7.76km); the fourth tender is from Yiling passenger station to Jiangjunyan (6.26km); the fifth tender is three pedestrian underpasses respectively located in International Trade Mansion, Yunji Road and Guoyuan Road. The three underpasses’ construction started on February 25th, 2014; the second tender started on March 5th, the first and third tenders started on May 4th. So far, the whole project in the main urban area has put into construction.

  The whole project lasts about a year and a half. The civil construction of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2014, and the equipment installation and commissioning will be completed and start to run officially before May in 2015.

  Up to now, the main structure of the three underpasses has been completed, and the pouring of concrete and waterproof layer construction backfill have been completed. On May 7th side change operations and sealing construction on the south side started. For the second tender, road broken and storm sewage remould have been completed; 60% of electricity ditch has been completed; one kilometer roadbed shaping has completed; 70% of pile foundation has been completed. It is predicted that the pouring of concrete will be completed at the end of this month. The sealing construction at the section of Gangyao Road to Yazhan Road and Heyi Road to Jinlong Road has started. The remold of Wanshou bridge and drainage culvert are conducting synchronously. The retaining walls are being installed at other sections so as to conduct half side construction. The construction scheme of the fourth tender (Yiling section) has been completed and will start working as soon as possible.

  For traffic jam, noise, dust, temporary pavement and other issues citizens concern, Headquarters response that traffic police department has formulated four contingency plans to find out 44 traffic blocks and implement corrective measures. Bus Group will formulate and implement plans to reroute and strengthen the management of rerouted vehicles. Headquarters actively communicate with Urban Management, Public Security, Planning, Landscape, Gezhouba Base Administration and other departments to improve the construction environment, ensure civilized construction, reasonably arrange the construction time. Measures including road sweeper, sprinkler are taken to solve dust, noise and other prominent problems, minimizing the adverse impact on the urban environment and residents’ working and living.   (Reporter Xiao Min, Correspondent Deng Tao)

  BRT Headquarters Answer Questions of Public Concern

  Q: When will the main project of BRT in downtown be completed?

  A: The civil construction of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2014, and the equipment installation and commissioning will be completed and start to run officially before May in 2015.

  Q: The noisy is annoying. Considering the coming Senior High School Entrance Examination and College Entrance Examination, will the construction time be adjusted before and during the examinations?

  A: Before exams, in accordance with the provisions and requirements of the relevant departments, we will adjust construction time, and during the examinations, mechanical execution will be adjusted to night work.

  Q: Considering that a lot of vehicles transporting construction waste, we are worried that whether the dumping of construction waste will affect the surroundings? We are also wondering how to get win-win situation between road construction and environmental protection in the process of Dongshan Avenue reconstruction?

  A: In the process of Dongshan Avenue reconstruction, the construction unit will transport 100,000m?concrete to crusher station in Huayan to crush and clean up. After processing and recycling, the construction waste will be recycled, through which we can not only save resources, but also protect the environment.

  Q: After dismantling streetlights and power supply along the construction road, some alleys and neighborhood which share power supply with the construction road also lose power supply for streetlights. How to carry out the construction of temporary lighting and involved power supply?

  A: In the construction area, we will also install temporary lighting facilities; for those affected by construction road, we will coordinate with the streetlights management department to add power supply.

  Q: In many intersections, drivers always break traffic rules because of congestion or unfamiliarity to temporary traffic. Will they be punished if they drive into the forbidden lines, or park in the construction area?

  A: In many intersections, temporary traffic lights are installed mainly to keep the roads unblocked without electronic camera. Drivers have to obey traffic lights as well as the command of the traffic police. Any traffic violation at the construction area will be investigated.
