The shipping service of the northern ship lock was suspended at 10 o’clock, May 16th and the suspension will last for 6 hours. This is the first overhaul this year and the lock chamber was drained. During the service suspension of the northern ship lock, the southern ship lock would still provide service for the ships sailing down the river.
It is reported that during this service suspension, apart from the routine maintenance for electrical equipment and other equipments along the northern line, there will also be checks on the metal structure of the miter gate of the second and third lock head and checks on the waterwork of the lock chamber. Additionally, the bottom pintle of miter gate of the second and third lock head will be lubricated and the water gauge and berth line will be cleaned. There will also be maintenance for underwater robots with cameras at the bottom water seal of the miter gate of sixth lock head. The maintenance of the ship lock is a preparation for the coming major flood period. (Correspondent: Ruan Rongbin)
