On May 21, President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation in Natural Gas Project from Russia to China via the Eastern Route between both governments, and the signing of the Contract of Natural Gas Purchase and Sales from Russia to China via the Eastern Route between CNPC and Gazprom.

　　According to the agreement, since 2018, Russian will start to deliver gas to China through Sino-Russian eastward gas pipes and the amount of the gas supply will be increased year by year until reaching 38 billion cubic meters per year for a 30-year contract life.
