Yichang publicity film was on at the New York Times Square which made Yichang, Pearl of the Three Gorges, known to the globe with beautiful scenery and rich cultural heritage, according to Xinhua News Agency in Wuhan on May 23. The Three Gorges Dam, Gaoxiapinghu (a scenic spot in Three Gorges Project), Xiajianghaozi (a kind of folk song), folk customs were all included.
The Publicity Department of Municipal Party Committee stated that the video would be rolling on a big screen outside Times Square all day from May 23 to October 27 at the local time.
Themed with "Yichang·China, Three Gorges Dam", the film poetically conveys Yichang’s features, style and charm. Six scenes flash one by one in different rhythms, including the Three Gorges, maple leaves in the Three Gorges, the Three Gorges Dam, landscape wonders, thrilling drift and Three Gorges Tribe. The video involves Yichang\'s natural scenery and cultural features, emphatic in rhythm and flexible in frame, echoing an affectionate call---welcome to Yichang.

In recent years, Yichang tourism has developed rapidly with Huyu Highway (Shanghai-Chongqing) and Hanyi Railway (Wuhan-Yichang) open to traffic. The city now has a total of 3 national 5A scenic spots, namely, the Three Gorges Dam, Qingjiang Gallery and Three Gorges Tribe and 31 3A or above scenic spots. In 2013, the city received a total of 33,203,700 domestic and overseas tourists with total tourism revenue of 26.012 billion RMB. In the first quarter of this year, the city saw a total of 8,583,000 tourists at home and abroad with total tourism revenue of 6.39 billion RMB, up 25.3% and 30.4% respectively.
