BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua)--On May 26, Chinese President Xi Jinping made the remarks at the central work conference on the social stability and development of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.

　　Xinjiang is of special significance to the overall work of the Party and the country, so the stability of Xinjiang is closely related to the overall stable situation of national reform and development, as well as the reunification, unity and security of China. At present, Xinjiang shows a good momentum of development and has a stable social environment. Practice has proved that the major policies on Xinjiang implemented by the central authorities are entirely correct. At the same time, we must realize that it is a long-term, complex and tough job to struggle against separatism in Xinjiang, and be fully aware of the importance and urgency of maintaining lasting social stability in Xinjiang and taking it as our focus of work. Party members must fully understand that the social stability and lasting peace of Xinjiang are goals of our Party, urgent hopes of the cadres and masses of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang, and an important guarantee to achieve leapfrog development of Xinjiang. We must resolutely oppose and crack down on the activities of ethnic separatists in order to maintain ethic and national unity. Taking the work of anti-terrorism as our current focus for restraining the spread of religious extremism and violent terrorist activities, we should persist in long-term battle and make solid efforts to do all kinds of work related to the lasting stability of Xinjiang with confidence.

　　Ethnic policy of the Party should be comprehensively implemented. Taking the ethnic unity as an essential part of doing all kinds of work of Xinjiang, we should strengthen and innovate in the work of ethnic unity, vigorously promote bilingual education (Uygur language and mandarin), push forward the establishment of social structure and community environment inhabited by different nationalities to facilitate their mutual contacts and understanding, and consolidate equal, united and harmonious socialist ethnic relations. At the same time, we must unswerving adhere to the Party\'s basic principle of religious work and protect the legitimate activities while stopping illegal ones, curbing extremist, resisting penetration, combating crime as well as making more efforts to train patriotic religious people to promote religious harmony.

　　Scientific development should be promoted on the basis of people\'s livelihood. We should persist in putting employment first so that the employment of one person at least can be ensured in the zero-employment families. Give priority to education by improving the educational quality of schools at all levels in Xinjiang; accelerate the construction of boarding schools in the pastoral areas and remote areas and fully implement free secondary education in southern Xinjiang. Let the fruits of development benefit people of all nationalities; increase livelihood construction; accelerate the construction of major projects benefiting people of all nationalities; improve the level of local participation in the development and utilization of resources in the process of transformation and quicken the opening-up of Xinjiang. Adhere to sustainable development and focus on the rational allocation and intensive conservation and use of water and land resources, as well as ecological construction and environmental protection. Stick to opening-up strategy and put emphasis on the construction of the core area of Silk Road Economic Zone of Xinjiang.

　　Social governance should be strengthened and innovated. We need to enhance prevention and control on the social situation, intensify network security supervision, carry out legal education, and implement intensive crackdown especially on the "three forces" (terrorists, secessionists and extremist) in order to effectively prevent the terrorist activities from happening frequently in Xinjiang and spreading to the mainland. Moreover, the promotion of core socialist values in the cultural and educational fields is essential in Xinjiang.
