From January to May, the industrial output value of enterprises above designated size in equipment manufacturing industry reaches 7.83 billion RMB, up 35.8%, accounting for 22% of the sized enterprises in Yidu. Currently, the production base for national hydraulic hoist, engineering cylinder, engine connecting rods and bulk material conveying machinery have been built in Yidu. Among them, bulk material conveying machinery has reached the advanced level in the world with about 25% market share and products export to Southeast Asia and other countries and regions.

　　During the late 1990s, with the reform and restructuring, equipment manufacturing industry in Yidu was at an all time low. However, no long after the low, a group of supervisory engineering staffs engaged in machinery manufacturing started their own businesses, and soon led to the innovation and development of equipment manufacturing industry. Last year, after the equipment manufacturing industry has been brought into the key industry cluster in Hubei, the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government have taken effective measures to deal with the shortage of funds, strengthen macroeconomic management, and expand the international market. There are 76 enterprises above designated size, of which 23 enterprises exceed 100 million. CSIC, Yidu Wanxin Mechanical Make, Huayi Tools, Huaxun Machinery and other projects are accelerating construction, providing 8995 job opportunities.

　　Meanwhile, Yidu has been increasing scientific research funds, strengthening university-industry cooperation and accelerating the pace of new product development and application of new technologies. In recent years, six university-industry cooperation projects have been built. Among them, the cooperation project of high frequency welding micro milling cutter between Josn Seiko Technology Co., Ltd and China Three Gorges University shortens the gap with the developed countries. Yidu Tongxin Precision Forging Co.,Ltd and Shandong Weifang Xishui Automation Equipment Co., Ltd jointly developed the robots used in forging automated production lines have promoted the integration of industry and information technology and greatly improved the level of equipment and technology.
