
On June 17, a large-scale fire drill was held at the dock chamber to celebrate the 11th opening anniversary of the Three Gorges Ship Locks. It was the largest one in recent years.
This drill assumed at the fourth chamber on the north ship lock, a ship loaded with 3,000-ton diesel caught fire and people aboard got trapped. China Three Gorges Corporation, Three Gorges Navigation Authority and other relevant departments started a fire emergency plan immediately. Three Gorges Fire Department and Yangtze River Shipping Public Security Bureau arrived at the scene to rescue in time. The entire drill lasted about 50 minutes.
