On the afternoon of June 18, Ma Xuming, Mayor of Yichang, met the Hungarian Delegation including the governor of Gyor of Hungary.

　　Ma expressed his warm welcome to the Hungarian delegation for their visit to Yichang. He said: “Last year, the Hubei delegation visited Hungary, which is a beautiful country along the Danube River. Yichang is the world capital of hydropower, the main power base of China, and the only National Model City in Hubei Province as well. In addition, it is also known as a ‘habitable and prosperous city’. Currently, Yichang is accelerating its construction of a modern megacity. We hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Hungary in economy, culture, urban planning and so on, in order to achieve mutual development. At the same time, we also welcome more Hungarians to visit Yichang. ”

　　The head of the Hungarian delegation said that he was very happy to visit Yichang－the second largest city in Hubei Province. Yichang is extremely beautiful and the Three Gorges is magnificent. He sincerely wished that Yichang could become more prosperous and people here could live a happier life.

　　On the evening of June 18, Mayor Ma met with Yu Peng, President of the Hubei Association of Northern California, USA, who paid a visit to Yichang with some other association members.

　　Ma expressed his warm welcome to the delegation. He said that from last year, in order to achieve the goal of “megacity construction to show results in one year, to take shape in three years and to reach big scale in five years”, Yichang, by constructing the city and developing the industries, has paved the way for the construction of a megacity. He thought that Yichang needs to open wider and establishes closer contacts with the outside world in order to speed up its construction. And Yichang occupies potential and advantages in the emerging industries such as the electronic information and the new energy. This year is crucial for the megacity construction which needs the support and help from Hubei Association of California, the USA. Therefore, we hope that the hometown association can promote the city image of Yichang, pay attention to the city construction and support its industry development.

　　Yu said that the world witnessed the achievements that Yichang has obtained. The association will strive to build a bridge between Hubei and the USA and even between China and the world. He said he would bring in Hubei the advanced overseas management mode, the most advanced technology in the Silicon Valley, and talents from all fields, which, in the meanwhile, is the preparation for the development of hi-tech industry in Yichang.

　　The Northern California is located in the Metropolitan Region of California. It develops mainly by hi-tech industries such as the software, the semi-conductor and the clean energy. Hubei Association, established in 1992, is the only organization recognized by China Consulate-general in San Francisco, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial People’s Government. Its members are talents of high technology and successful entrepreneurs who devoted to their careers and hometown construction. The association has made great contribution for Hubei in attracting investments and capitals in the USA, and was set by the provincial government as the “Hubei International Cooperation Station”.
