On July 1, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation visited Yichang and conducted a 3-day inspection over the comprehensive improvement project for the urban transportation.

　　The construction of BRT and renovation project of Dongshan Avenue is one of the subprojects that Yichang applies for the ADB’s loan to the construction of urban transportation comprehensive improvement project. On that day, the ADB delegation conducted a field visit to the urban BRT construction site, listened to the report on the BRT project construction process and joined in the discussion concerning relevant operation plans and the optimization of the design schemes.

　　Ki-Joon Kim, the manager of the ADB program and transportation expert, said that Yichang BRT project achieved a smooth development with a fast speed and good quality, which made it become ADB’s fastest project ever in China. Yichang’s project also serves as a representative  demonstration project of ADB in Asia, whose smooth completion will exert a magnificent effect on other countries.

　　During the following inspection period, the expert panel organized special discussions on various aspects, such as financial management, fund raising, resettlement of inhabitant and project consultation.

　　It is learned that the comprehensive improvement project for Yichang urban transportation includes 2 subprojects, namely, Yichang BRT construction and the renovation project of Doshang avenue, as well as the municipal project of Dongshan 4th Road. The total estimated investment is 3,305 billion yuan with a construction period spanning from 2013 to 2016. (Reporters: Zhao Wei, Xiao Min )
