According to Yichang Railway Construction Leading Group Office, the comprehensive construction of Zhengzhou-Wanzhou Railway which links the southwest, central China and north China will start next year. This railway will pass through Xinshan county and other regions in Yichang. Then Yichang will construct the rail linking Wuhan-Yichang Railway and Zhengzhou-Wanzhou Railway to achieve the fully opening of Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu High-Speed Railway. It will shorten the travel time between Yichang and Chongqing for 2 hours.

　　It’s learned that according to the 12th Five-Year Plan for the Railway Network, Zhengzhou-Wanzhou Railway will be capable of handling 250km/h trains and link Xiangyang and Yichang.

　　Zhengzhou-Wanzhou Railway will be located in the blank area between Yichang-Wanzhou Railway and Xiangyang-Chongqing Railway. The completion of the inter-city express railway will help the development of the “One River, Two Mountains”, strengthen the economic ties between Yichang and Xiangyang, promote the formation of the economic development structure and the development of the Western Hubei Ecological Circle and the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, etc.

　　Compared with the Yichang-Wanzhou Railway, the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou Railway will achieve the fully opening of Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu High-Speed Railway to build up a high-speed rail connecting the east, the central and the west. This line will be more helpful for the development of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and make the Yangtze River golden waterway achieve the seamless connection of the “railways, highways and waterways”.
