2014-07-21 10:50:36

In June, the CPI of the urban area of Yichang increased 2.8% and is 0.5 % lower than last month. Compared with May, it increased 0.5 % year on year and decreased 0.9% month on month, according to the Yichang Investigation Team of National Bureau of Statistics. Accelerated increases in the prices of clothing, food and so on were the main contributor to the higher CPI figure.

The price of vegetables went down sharply. For abundant rainfall and the appropriate temperature of June, some local vegetables such as cowpea, cucumber, tomato grew quickly so that the market supply was reinforced. The prices of urban vegetables, fresh vegetables and potato respectively fell 8.1%, 8.5% and 10.3% month on month.

On the contrary, the price of fruits went up. People had a higher demand for fresh fruits as summer came. Fresh fruit prices grew by 4.9% month on month, and the prices of apples, bananas, watermelons and citruses were all up.

The price of pork went up slightly month on month. Influenced by the fluctuation of the pork price, purchasing and storage policy of pork, holidays and other factors, the pork price grew by 4.7% month on month after it began to recover in May. But when compared with the same month of last year, the price is still low with a decline of 0.4% year on year.

People had a higher demand for renting as “Senior Year” came. The renting prices of houses in the downtown, CBD and the districts with convenient traffic grew by 50 to 200 RMB each unit. The prices of renting and housing respectively increased 2% and 1.4% month on month. (Reporter: Pei Shujing; correspondent: Zou Jiao)
