However, there is a gap between Yichang and megacities in the world. Many problems affected the image and living environment of Yichang.”
Wang believes that proper readjustment for the old city cannot only improve urban quality, promote the overall urban expansion, upgrade the old city, but also increase the wealth of the family. The urban consolidation will maintain the old buildings to protect the 2400 years history of Yichang and avoid the waste of cultural resources.
According to the overall requirements of “being clean, green, bright, beautiful, quiet and smooth”, Yichang has deployed three major projects, including urban greening, beautification and presence. It planned to focus on developing the entrance portal of Yichang from 2013 to 2015, creating the landscape node, organizing transportation corridors, transforming old buildings, improving the image of the old city radically and the city quality to transform Yichang into a modern city with complete functions and facilities, beautiful environment and convenient living conditions.

34 greenbelts in Yichang has been included in protection, with a total area of 9.44 million square meters. This year, Yichang mountain protection is also included in the NPC\'s legislative program. By the end of 2013, the total area of ??Yichang city landscaping is 54.75 million square meters, with a green coverage rate of 41.25% and per capita green area of ??14.15 square meters.
