2014 Yichang’s Half-YearBusiness Economic Work Conference was held in the urban area. Yuan Weidong, vice mayor of Yichang City, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
　　The operation of the business economy in the first half of 2014 was mentioned in the meeting: the total amount of retail sales of consumer goods has reached to 45.492 billion yuan, ranking third among other cities in Hubei Province and keeping the average growth rate; the exports of private enterprises increased significantly and the Latin American and Africa exports increased steadily; the exports of four key products, including the chemical products, agricultural products, machinery and equipment manufacturing and medical products, were 591.192 million dollars; foreign enterprises made a historic breakthrough in overseas listing; the turnover of the foreign economic cooperation business reached to 1203.4798 million dollars with a year-on-year growth of 4.18%. The total freight volume of import and export reached to 1.306297 million tons with a year-on-year growth of 30.6%, and the foreign capital, foreign economy, port construction developed steadily.

　　Yuan urged that key points should be obtianed and service should be improved in the second half of 2014. He also suggested that E-commerce should be developed , the main players in the market should be cultivated, and efforts should be made in the expansion of consumption and the promotion of domestic demand; the departments shall take all factors into consideration to achieve resource sharing and information interaction and make efforts to encourage foreign trade; the Commerce Departments should establish the supervision system of monthly report to makes achievements in the business economy work by the end of the year.
