Shanghai owns the magnificent Bund, Guangzhou boasts the Zhujiang night scene, and how long will the riverside scenery in Yichang be? According to the Municipal Construction Committee, a 60-kilometer-picture scroll along the Yangtze River will be built in Yichang, which possesses the following features: the Yangtze River runs through the city; two green mountains decorate the city center; another four mountains surround the city; six streams flow into the Yangtze River; six green wedges connect mountains, and greenways form a network”.

　　The natural waters and mountains are unique advantages of Yichang, bringing her abundant ecological resources. Along the Yangtze River, two Back Mountains in Xiling District and Xiaoting District are two green centers; Houshan Mountain in Xiling District to Moji Mountain, Longpan Lake to Guanyin Mountain, Shanxichong Village to Aijiadian Village are three green wedges; and Huangbo River, Bolin River, Qiaobian River and Manao River are four water galleries. And they will form four greenways, thus constructing the systematic pattern of the riverside greenway. When the construction is completed, people in Yichang will enjoy a visual feast. The city greenway system will combine waters and mountains and bring people a different view at every step.

　　In order to build a national demonstration area of ecological civilization, we will quicken the pace to create a green system which integrates urban area with rural area. The waste mountains will be ecologically restored, and turned into parks and the places covered with greenery. In order to create the special scenery on Chengdong Avenue, we will expand the ecological space and build greenways. We will retain the natural “ups and downs” shape of the mountains to create the unique view on Wulong Avenue and Jiangcheng Avenue. There is a small pond on Wulong Avenue, which will be difficult to deal with in construction. However, we have tackled the problem and designed it to a “moon river” on the avenue, bringing the scenery with both mountains and waters. We will also promote the water scenery construction in Tangjiawan and East Railway Station, and initiate the river conservation work of Bolin River and Paifang River, thus keeping the characteristics of mountains and waters.
