Posed Officer Extorted 7000 Yuan From Neighbor with Improper Relationship
2014-09-23 11:25:02

On the morning of September 16th, after a two-month investigation, a criminal suspect who has posed as policeman and extorted for several times was arrested.

In the early June 2014, when Zeng found that Zheng, a citizen lived in Banyue Town, Dangyang, had improper relationship with his neighbor, a plot came to his mind. Zeng went to Zheng’s house and told him he was a local policeman and fined him 2000 yuan for his bad behavior. Worrying that it may harm his fame, Zheng accepted the punishment, so he gave 700 yuan, all the money he had at that time to Zeng and promised to pay the rest to the police station the next day. At the end, Zeng took down Zheng’s phone number.

Around 7:00 the next day, “Policeman Zeng” called Zheng to urge him to pay the rest “fine”. However, Zheng was reluctant to go to the police station, so they made the deal at an agreed place. Zheng thought that he got out of trouble, but unexpectedly he was required to pay 5000 yuan “fine” and “fees” in the following days. In desperation, Zheng called the real police and according to the appearance information provided by Zheng, the police investigated and excluded more than 150 suspects.

On August 10th, the police went to trouble to put Zeng onto the key suspect list and released the information on the Internet. In the morning of September 16th, Zeng was captured in a teahouse of a community in Yangcheng District.  Zeng confessed all his crime that he passed a policeman and extorted other people. Currently, Zeng is criminal detained and the case is under further proceedings. (Reporter: Gong Changjun, Correspondent: Huang Heping, Chen Xiaolin)
