The First Air Pollution Prevention and Control Meeting was held on September 30th. Song Wenbao, the executive vice mayor and member of Yichang Municipal Committee of the CPC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech at the meeting presided by vice mayor Liu Jianxin.
　　At the meeting, the City Environmental Protection Bureau introduced the current situation of prevention and control of atmospheric pollution in Yichang City, and the Supervision Office of the Municipal Government informed of the recent implementation of each organization. Files including the work duty of leading group, the methods of assessment of the atmospheric pollution prevention and the assessment scoring rules were discussed and approved at the meeting.
　　In order to improve the air quality of Yichang, Anneng Thermoelectric Power Group and the Meilian Power Development Corporation in it will be shut down completely, and the 25 coal-fired boilers provided by China Resource Power Plant will be eliminated. Besides, all the Shanxi tile kilns which produce antique building materials located in High-tech Zone will be closed before the end of October because of their inconformity to the industrial policy . At the same time, in order to reduce the pollution caused by high-emission vehicles, Yichang City will issue a subsidy policy aiming to encourage the elimination of high-emission vehicles in advance in the end of November, and strive to eliminate all the high-emission vehicles in the city before the end of 2017.
　　Song Wenbao pointed out that air pollution prevention was not only a political task but also a livelihood project, so each organization should work together to strengthen joint law enforcement and resolutely investigate and punish severely illegal or repeated-offending enterprises, and responsibilities of the people in charge of the enterprises shall be investigated according to the law. For those who get involved in a crime, their criminal liabilities shall be investigated under the law.
　　Song stressed that efficiency of law enforcement should be improved; supervision of the control of waste gas pollution of industrial enterprises, the fuel quality and the set-off of fireworks in urban district should be strengthened; the on-site monitoring and the inspection of law enforcement of urban construction, road construction, asphalt concrete and merchandise concrete stirring stations should be intensified; the frequency of flushing and watering of the city road should be increased; the dust pollution caused by road traffic should be reduced; straws- burning in the open air should be prohibited. All the above measures are to be taken to make sure all the citizens can breathe more clean and fresh air and to create a better environment for production and living.(Reporters: Jin Guiman and Yang Chunyan)
