According to the National Bureau of Statistics Investigation Team in Yichang, in October Yichang’s CPI rose 1.3% year-on-year, with 0.4% decrease than that in September and 0.3% month-on-month, with 0.1% decrease than that of September. Food prices were the main factor for the CPI rise.
Due to the much rain in late October, weather posed negative impact on vegetable production, harvesting and transportation, thus leading to the inflation of food prices. Consequently, on monthly basis, urban vegetable prices rose 1.8%; fresh vegetable prices rose 2.3%, with a slight increase on Chinese cabbage, spinach and other green vegetables; while, compared with that of last October, prices of fresh vegetables were relatively low with a decline of 12.7%.
After the downturn of half a year, pork price had chugged steadily since July and its link relative ratio was up to 1.3% in October.
Oil prices were slightly higher, compared with that of last month. Adequate supply of edible oil raw materials had promoted the announcement of a roughly 10% -13% price decline of two oil name brands, Arowana and Fortune, since late October. But the current prices of price-collecting sites in Yichang City have no conspicuous change, because time is needed for the price change in end-consumer market.
