Fang Jiangxia is a villager at the Huaqiao Village, Moshi Town, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County. Since 2010, he began to breed goats. In the next 3 years, he sold 899 goats and earned 890,000 yuan with net income over 700,000 RMB, "I\'m obsessed with breeding goats," he said.
　　Xiong Congxin and his wife, who live at the Laoguan Village, Maopingchang Town in Yuan’an County, have contracted near 1,000 mu (15mu is 1 hectare) of mountain land. Last year, they planted more than 10 mu of grass and bred 150 ewes and 2 rams. They sold more than 100 goats and earned more than 100,000 yuan last winter and this spring.
　　Data shows the enthusiasm of cattle and goats farmers. According to "The Opinions on Accelerating the Development of the Cattle and Goat Industry" , which was discussed and approved by the 42th Executive Meeting held by municipal government, the comprehensive production value of cattle and goats industry in Yichang will reach up to 10 billion yuan in 2015; in 2020, it will amount to 30 billion Yuan.
　　On November 20, Sheng Hongxue, Director of the Municipal Bureau of Animal Husbandry introduced and explained the developing situation of cattle and goats feeding.
　　Currently farmers can earn 135 to 250 yuan by selling one pig, more than 5000 yuan by raising one cattle , and 700 to 800 yuan by selling one goat. Furthermore, the cattle and goats market is rising steadily in both supply and demand.
　　According to the standard of Yichang\'s family farms last year, there are 872 family farms in Yichang.
　　The shortcomings that limit the development of Yichang\'s cattle and goat industry include weak breeds, insufficient utilization and development of forages, weak technical strength and the under-developing brand building and processing.
　　"Yichang white goat is a national renowned breed for its high quality, but has not yet formed a public brand with Yichang characteristics and its product distribution is scattered. Similarly, the quality of local cattle is still very good but lack proper protection and utilization. " Shen said with regret.
　　Yichang will accelerate the construction of three main producing areas of animal husbandry for beef cattle, mutton goat and cow and mainly carry out two kinds of breeding patterns. The household farm breeding patterns of "household farm developing at moderate scale with annual income of 100,000 yuan" includes beef cattle "1210" and mutton sheep "1531". For the beef cattle “1210” pattern, each household farm earns 100,000 yuan by raising 12 cows and selling 10 fat cows; for the  mutton sheep "1531" pattern, each household farm earns 100,000 yuan by selling over 100 goats through building a standardized goat-house and raising 50 ewes with reproductive ability and planting 30 mu grass.
