2014-12-01 21:56:28

According to Yichang MDRC (Municipal Development and Reform Commission) , the Development Plan of Yichang Modern Service Industry has gone through the expert assessment in the past few days in Beijing, looking to industrial restructuring and development with a goal of ¥400 billion within six years.
The plan was jointly worked out by MDRC and the Industrial and Technological Economy Research Institute under NDRC on the basis of Yichang’s current industrial structure, status quo, market prospects and geographical advantages, which plans that in the coming years the city will promote modern logistics, cultural tourism, financial services, and commercial circulation as its pillar industries with an estimated 60% increase in added value. According to the plan, the emerging service industries including high-tech services, healthcare services, software and information services, commercial exhibition services and sports services will be developed and strengthened, targeting a 30% increase in added value. Meanwhile, foundations for real estate services, family services and agricultural production services will be consolidated. By 2020, the annual added value of service industry will reach 400 billion, accounting for 48% of the entire social employment.
This plan has been approved by experts from the following institutions, including NDRC, Tsinghua University, National School of Administration, and China Center for International Economic Exchanges, etc: both its strategic height and great foresight make this plan well interlink with relevant plannings and policies of the nation, Hubei province and Yichang city; it is highly innovative to construct the city layout, in which there is one core (Wuhan) and two poles (Xiangyang and Yichang), one belt and two axes, one urban area and four districts, and Yichang will act in cooperation with Wuhan and Chongqing; the clear thinking, distinct levels, specific aims, prominent priorities and forceful measures provide this plan with practicality for a higher quality as a whole.
Owing to the solid foundation and favorable conditions of its service industry, Yichang is bound to grasp the opportunities brought by the development of Yangtze River Economic Belt, intellectualization, IT application and urbanization to transform the development mode and elevate its comprehensive competitiveness following the way mapped out in the plan, said Ma Xiaohe, Vice-president of NDRC Academy of Macroeconomic Research, who presides the assessment.(Reporter: Zhang Bo)
