A foreign expert symposium was held in Yichang recently. Liu Jianxin, the vice mayor, made a speech and had a cordial discussion with the foreign experts working in Yichang.
　　On behalf of the municipal government, Liu Jianxin expressed sincere thanks and extended greetings to all of the foreign experts when Christmas Day and New Year’s Day were coming soon. Comments and suggestions from foreign experts would be welcomed and the municipal government would spare no effort to solve problems and provide them with a better work and living environment. Meanwhile, he hoped that the experts would take Yichang as their second hometown and build it into a better city together with Yichang people.
　　According to the statistics from the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Yichang Municipal People’s Government, there are 90 foreign experts who live and work in Yichang this year. They come from different countries, including Australia, the United States, Russia, Britain, Spain, Greece, Holland, Denmark, Japan, India, South Korea, etc and their working in shipbuilding, metallurgy, food and drug, light industry, education, etc. Since 1996, 14 foreign experts working in Yichang have been awarded “Chime Bell Award” by the provincial government.  (Reporter: Sun Xiaoling, correspondent: Qiu Yunjian)
