According to Xinhua News Agency, Yichang, December 14th, (Reporter: Liang Jianqiang, Wu Zhi), December 14th is the 20th anniversary of the Three Gorges Project (TGP), which is the world\'s largest key water control project currently. The reporter learned from the Three Gorges Hydropower Plant (TGHP) that, the benefit of power generation played a significant role since the project was constructed. The cumulative generating capacity has reached as high as 800 billion kWh, among which, the generated energy in 2014, expected to hit a record high, for the first time is on the top of the world’s hydropower stations.
　　Mr. Li Zhixiang, deputy director of TGHP, introduced that the first set of the TGHP was put into operation on July 10th, 2003. In the process of operation, TGHP built a lean production management which regarded diagnosis operation, lean maintenance and condition based maintenance as the core. Till December 14th, this year, TGHP was kept running with no accidents successively for more than 3042 days, which set a new record of continuously safe operation days of 700,000 kWh of domestic hydroelectric generating set cluster.
　　Until November 4th this year, the cumulative generating capacity of TGHP has reached over 800 billion kWh, which was the equivalent to saving 400 million tons of raw coal cumulatively, reducing 800 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and sulfur dioxide emissions more than 800 million tons. At present, the cumulative generating capacity of the power station has been over 807.8 billion kWh. The total generating capacity this year has reached more than 95.8 billion kWh, and fulfilled its annual program objectives in advance.
　　“If the conditions of upstream water conformance are in accordance with the expectations, the generating capacity this year is expected to hit a record high and will surpass Itapúa hydropower station; it will, for the first time, be on the top of the world’s power stations.” Li said that during these years, annual electricity production of Itapúa Hydroelectric Power Station is little higher than that of TGHP, but this year will be the first time for TGHP to turn around the situation.
　　TGHP installed 32 hydroelectric generating sets with generated energy 700,000 kWh each, and two power-supply sets with 50,000 kWh. The total installed capacity is 22.5 million kWh, which ranked the first in the world.
　　According to Xinhua News Agency, Yichang, December 14th - (Reporter Wu Zhi, Liang Jianqiang) Since the Three Gorges ship lock was put into operation in 2003, a total of 700 million tons of goods have been transported, which is 3.5 times as much as the sum of the lockage of freight volume before the Three Gorges project was impounded and after the Gezhouba Dam ship lock was put into operation in the past 22 years.
　　Ever since the Three Gorges Project started the experimental water storage with the height of 175 meters in 2009, hundreds of shallows and angerous shoals have no longer existed; waterway and port conditions have been greatly improved in the area of 660 km section of the river from Yichang, Hubei to Chongqing. The TGP double-line five-grade ships lock, as the link between the TGP’s up and down, has experienced a rapid growth of the lockage of freight volume. In 2004, quantity of shipment of Three Gorges ship lock reached more than 34 million tons; in 2011, the quantity of shipment first broke 100 million tons which achieved the expected throughput level for 19 years in advance. In 2014, the lockage of freight volume broke 100 million tons for the second time, and the sum of the lockage of freight volume will be expected to breakthrough 110 million tons.
