Lu Chun, President of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) announced at Hohhot Pumped Storage Power Station, Inner Mongolia On December 26th , that the successful operation of unit 2 of pumped storage power station of Hohhot symbolizes the installed capacity of clean energy of the Three Gorges Corporation has broken through 50 million kilowatts.
　　Hohhot Pumped Storage Power Station is the first pumped storage power station in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which is also the strategic project of clean energy developed by China Three Gorges Corporation in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Four vertical single-stage reversible mixed flow generating units, each with a generating capacity of 300,000-kilowatts, which are manufactured by the Dongfang Electric Corporation, have been installed in the power station with a total installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts, designed annual pumping consumption of 2.677 billion kwh, and the annual generated energy of 2.007 billion kwh.
　　The installed capacity of clean energy generated by the China Three Gorges Corporation has reached 50 million kilowatts, all produced by hydropower, wind electricity, solar energy and other clean energy. Consequently, more than 100 million tons of annual raw coal consumption has been reduced, more than 200 million tons of annual carbon dioxide emission has been decreased, and more than 2 million tons of annual sulfur dioxide emission has been reduced. Around 2020, the installed capacity of CTGC will increase by another 50 million kilowatts; the total installed capacity will exceed 100 million kilowatts; clean energy will account for more than 90%. Therefore, China Three Gorges Corporation has maintained the leading position of hydroelectricity around the world. (Correspondent: Wang Donghong, Reporter: Liu Zirong)
