Yichang Awarded “Top Ten Food Safety City”

  On January 4, good news came from the Municipal Food and Medicine Supervising Administration that Yichang was awarded “Top Ten Food Safety City in China” at the 13th press conference concerning China City Competitiveness Rankings recently held in Hong Kong.

  The assessment is based on the “GN China Food Safety Evaluation Standards System”, which includes 5 first-level indicators, 15 secondary-level indicators and 49 third-level indicators, covering food safety in quality, laws and regulations on food, food safety supervision and management, food safety technology and financial support, food safety information, education, communication and training, etc. Accroding to the independent evaluation made by China Research Institute of City Competitiveness, Yichang scores 75.46, ranking the 7th place.

  Since its foundation in 1998, each year China Research Institute of City Competitiveness organizes over one hundred experts and scholars to conduct comparative studies on overall competitiveness and growth competitiveness of China’s above prefecture-level cities, according to its self-created GN assessment system.
