it is learned that the municipal government has issued Provision of Yichang City Awarding Honorary Citizen on January 7th. People who are eligible including foreigners, overseas Chinese, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and other citizens will win this title and will be invited as distinguished guests to visit Yichang, attend series of important celebrations and have an access to more conveniences and services provided by some relevant departments. It is reported that the Honorary Citizen Awarding Ceremony is held every two years in principle. This provision has started with immediate effect and will expire on December 31st, 2019.

　　According to reports, people who meet the following conditions can be recommended to be granted Honorary Citizen of Yichang: Those who have made prominent contributions in the promotion of the city\'s foreign exchanges, the increase of economic and cultural cooperation and the establishment of sister city relationships; those who have put forward significant suggestions about the formulation of the city economic development strategies, urban planning and major technology policy, environmental protection and rational exploitation, utilization of resources, which generates great economical or social benefits after acceptation; those who have made other contributions in direct investment of the city, the introduction of capitals, talents and high-tech aspects, the development of science, technology, education, culture, health and sports; the donation or funding for social welfare and philanthropy and other aspects.
