On the morning of Jan.13, Edunburgh Elevator (Yichang) Production Base, an economic cooperation project of the counterpart supports from Shanghai to Yiling District, officially went into production in Yiling District.
　　Possessing an exclusive two-channel monitoring technology throughout the country, Shanghai Edunburgh Elevator INC (Shanghai Edunburgh Elevator Co., Ltd.) is a well-known company, the first one to earn A-grade elevator energy efficiency certification in Chinese elevator industry. In 2013, its Production Base (Yichang) has been settled in Xiaoxita High-tech Industrial Park in Yiling District through the platform of Shanghai’s counterpart supports. With a total investment of 280 million yuan, this project broke ground in August of 2013 to mainly manufacture high-speed & energy-saving elevators, mechanical parking systems, escalators and supporting device production line, covering 75 mu (50,000m2). After reaching its design capacity, it can manufacture 4,000 escalators and 1,000 mechanical parking garages each year. Meanwhile, it is also expected to achieve an annual output value of 200 million yuan, total profits and taxes of over 20 million yuan and create 200 jobs. So the operation of the base will inject new vitality into expansion of equipment manufacturing industry, adjustment of industrial structure as well as establishment of modern industrial system in Yichang.

The project of Edunburgh Elevator (Yichang) Production Base, as the one and only elevator project in central China, constitute a strategic decision by the company to grow stronger and bigger as a result of adhering to its development ideas.
　　Liu Hongfu, secretary of CPC in Yiling District Committee, said that it marked a new progress of counterpart supports to Three Gorges Reservoir area that Edunburgh Elevator Production Base went into production in Yiling District. Adhering to the idea of “Industry First”, Yiling District will further improve its service level to constantly optimize development environment of the counterpart supports project.
　　Yiling District is one of major areas in national counterpart supports project. Since 1992 when Shanghai established a counterpart support system to help Yiling District, 421 public welfare programs and 21 economic cooperation programs have been set up, and more than 30 companies invested and developed in Yiling District, such as Juneyao Group, GDH (Guangdong Holding Limited), ORDRO, etc. With a planning area of 21.21 square kilometers, Xiaoxita High-tech Industrial Park is the primary park to undertake relevant counterpart supports programs. As planned, it has four major functional zones, including high and new technology industry, green food processing, modern equipment manufacturing as well as ecological leisure agriculture with an expected output value of 30 billion yuan and total profits and taxes of 3 billion yuan this year.
