With an investment of 420 million yuan and an annual output of 2200 tons of amino acids, Amino Acids Industry Base of Yichang Sanxia Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd formally went into operation in the Biological Industrial Park in Yichang High-Tech Zone. After the environmental and efficient gas-fired boiler system, automatic power system, computer numerical controlled fermentation equipment and other advanced technologies owned by the Base are all put into operation, the Base would become the largest branched-chain amino acids production base in China with its products occupying up to 50% in market.
　　An agreement was signed officially between High-Tech Zone and Yichang Central People’s Hospital to invest and construct Yichang Bio-pharmaceutical Industry Research Centre. Relying on the existing pharmaceutical experiment research platform of Central People’s Hospital and uniting companies related to bio-pharmaceutical industry, this Research Center would focus on applied research and achievement transformation to set up research and development platform in utilizing regional superior biological resources and tackling bio-pharmaceutical key technology, test platform of new products and new technology industrialization, integration and pilot platform for scientific and technological achievements, and technical information service platform through collaborative innovation of technology.
　　Bio-pharmaceutical industry is one of the six 100-billion-yuan industries that Yichang is  constructing. In recent years, Yichang High-Tech Zone has put forth effort to adjust industrial structure, strongly promote transformation and upgrading, and develop bio-pharmaceutical industry and other strategic emerging industries firmly relying on Biological Industrial Park. At present, High-Tech Zone which has been in possession of 20 bio-pharmaceutical enterprises including Humanwell Pharmaceutical Company, Angel Yeast, Hengan Pharm. Company and other well-known enterprises are approved to be the first batch of bio-pharmaceutical high-tech industrialization base established in Hubei Province. Output value of bio-pharmaceutical enterprises in the Zone has exceeded 20 billion yuan in 2014.
　　Talent is the key in developing strategic emerging industry. In recent years, Three Gorges Talents Project and Introduction Plan of High-level Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talents were carried out in Yichang High-Tech Zone to massively introduce high-level innovative and entrepreneurial teams and talents from home and abroad. Dr. Deng Yaguang, a former researcher in Stanford University, mainly studied high sensitivity detection of the cancer cell in blood circulation and molecular markers in single cell level. In the beginning of last year, Deng was invited to start a business back in China, and then he founded Yichang MeiGuangGuiGu Life Science & Technology Co., Ltd. in High-Tech Zone. With the support of High-Tech Zone and for the technical advantages and industry status of the company, Deng was chosen one of the Hubei 100 People Plan and obtained financial support of 3 million yuan.
　　Yang Meiren, the Deputy Secretary of Working Committee and the Director of Management Committee in Yichang High-Tech Zone, said that technological innovative capabilities of bio-pharmaceutical industry would be further promoted to lift bio-pharmaceutical industry to a stronger and larger exent.
